I know, I know I already wrote about breakfasts on a post for the theme of the week but who can seriously resist a smoothie bowl? Not me and on this post I am sharing my favourite smoothie bowl recipes!
Smoothie bowls are basically bowls filled with a thick smoothie and topped with fresh fruit, granola and other toppings. You can arrange a rainbow of fruits on top or make different patterns for it to be more fun!
I want to share some of the recipes of smoothie bowls that have really inspired me-
Rai's top 3 smoothie bowls-
1)Berry Magic smoothie bowl- I got this recipe from-https://minimalistbaker.com/ and I love the classic berry flavour with the creaminess of the banana.
1 heaping cup organic frozen mixed berries
1 small ripe banana (sliced and frozen)
2-3 Tbsp light coconut milk
1 scoop plain yogurt TOPPINGS
1 Tbsp shredded unsweetened coconut (desiccated)
1 Tbsp chia seeds
1 Tbsp hemp seeds
Add frozen berries and banana to a blender and blend on low until small bits remain - see photo.
Add a bit of coconut or almond milk and protein powder (optional), and blend on low again, scraping down sides as needed, until the mixture reaches a soft serve consistency (see photo).
Scoop into 1-2 serving bowls (amount as original recipe is written // adjust if altering batch size) and top with desired toppings (optional). I prefer chia seeds, hemp seeds, and coconut, but strawberries, granola, and a nut or seed butter would be great here, too!
Best when fresh, though leftovers keep in the freezer for 1-2 weeks. Let thaw before enjoying.
2) Mermaid smoothie bowl-This is an amazing recipe of a tropical mermaid smoothie bowl that reminds me of my time in the Maldives(Blog post written on it). I got this recipe from https://www.theroastedroot.net/
1 1/2 ripe bananas peeled and frozen
1 cup fresh mango frozen
1/2 cup coconut milk yogurt
1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk
1/4 cup orange juice
1 tsp lime zest
2 to 3 tsp blue spirunila or blue pea flower powder
1/2 cup ice
SMOOTHIE BOWL TOPPINGS:
1/3 cup muesli
1/4 cup fresh blueberries
1 Kiwi peeled and sliced
1/4 cup fresh mango peeled and chopped
Add all ingredients for the smoothie bowl to a blender and blend until smooth. If needed, add more almond milk to make smoothie thinner, or add ice to make smoothie thicker.
Pour blue smoothie into a bowl and top with paleo muesli and fresh fruit. Enjoy!
3)Rainbow smoothie bowl-Rainbows make my happy and this smoothie bowl plays the job of a happy smoothie bowl, ok just kidding(maybe). This smoothie bowl is filed with colourful fruit and you know what they say about having a variety of colourful fruits and veggies a day! I got this recipe from -https://simpleveganblog.com/
1/2 cup almond milk (125 ml)
2 fresh bananas + 2 frozen bananas
1 tbsp almond butter
4 Deglet Nour or 2 Medjool dates
Toppings: raspberries, blueberries, kiwi, mango, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, flax seeds.
Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
Add your favorite toppings.
